5 Things This Week

Who writes blogs anymore?

With AI, we can pump 10000x the content we want. We’re all prompt engineers, right? But what are two things AI can’t do or give? Provide time and attention, which are two gifts you ALWAYS have to give….and we forget that.

Part of my responsibilities as a coach and mentor are to provide those two things - time and attention to solving my clients complex and important issues. To get them to where they want to go, to hold the mirror up, the sign, the writing on the wall…it’s all so obvious, right? But…who does that for me? Where do I get my inspiration? What do I draw from?

The secret is….I don’t. I make mistake after mistake, often harder, farther, further away from the watchful eyes. In secret, I fight, I die, I’m scarred, I lose many many many battles. I’ve lost jobs, relationships, arguments, respect, friends, colleagues, mentors and more, but what are two things I do after all of that?

I don’t quit, I don’t have an off-switch, and yes - of course, I’m terrified, I don’t want to lose, be alone, be poor, so I pick up that book, I get up again, I talk myself through the mirror and in the car and stare up at the sky like I’m the main character in a movie - and I guess that’s what it takes to be a coach and a mentor. The pain, the sacrifice, the mistakes and the feeling of never wanting to go through that for someone else so long as I can live.

With that said - it’s not all doom and gloom, here are five things I’ve learned this week.

  1. Produce 80% content and consume the other 20% - You are constantly diverting your time and attention to other things people are consuming, therefore increasing their value over your own. Spend time on making not consuming. Starting right now.

  2. Understand you will fail or stumble sooner and later - This part of life is unavoidable. You add to the weight when you stress about it.

  3. Life’s a joke, not a dick, don’t take it so hard. You needed to hear it this way. Don’t forget to laugh and dance in the middle of the shitstorm. That’s really what scares the fuck out of people - when you can laugh and dance in the middle of a crisis (or seeming crisis).

  4. You will succeed as long as you don’t quit. This I can guarantee. The only thing that makes people failures is when they throw in the towel. Don’t do it. Even one step, one post, one email, just keep that momentum up….and schedule your breaks. Don’t watch the $$$ or the follower count. Just keep going. Forget the analytics.

  5. More isn’t necessarily better. - Hard for us Americans to comprehend, but you don’t need it all…define what is enough for you - and live there with gratitude. When you have enough to give away 10% of what you have that’s when life brings you the next level of love, income, business, clients and more. That’s how you get more - you give when you decide you have enough, then you get more. I promise you that’s how it works.

Overall, I’m going to put more musings and posts in here, but I want to get a few out for new, previous and interested clients.
